In 2010, the Argentine Republic is celebrating 200 years of Independence. To mark this occasion, the Consulate General of Argentina in Mumbai is sponsoring and granting its auspices to several events. Although geographically and culturally different, India and Argentina share basic core principles regarding Democratic and Human values and have traditionally been close in many relevant issues of international affairs.
By broadening the areas of contact between Indians and Argentines in culture, tourism and trade among other areas of cooperation, the Consulate General wishes to contribute to the enhancement of the knowledge and understanding that Mumbaikars and other Indian cities have of Argentina.
Under the heading Two-2-Tango, the following are some of the events in the coming weeks:
Let’s Tango
Dates: 16th November to 31st December 2010
Venues: Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Goa and others
Few cultural expressions are as effective as music and dance in transmitting a country’s character. Tango is a distinctively Argentine dance form and a company of 15 dancers, musicians and singers will be touring Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Goa and other Indian cities performing TANGO. This is the first time an Indian audience will have a firsthand opportunity to witness such an event.
Bella Argentina
Dates: 26th to 2nd December 2010
Venue: Piramal Art Gallery, NCPA
Indian photographers Aneesh Bhasin and Subhash Motwani have visited Argentina and will be exhibiting their visual experience in large format photographs.
Cine Argentina
Dates: 3rd to 4th December 2010
Venue: Whistling Woods International
Film is a cultural expression both countries have a passion for. The showing of 5 Argentine films that have been nominated (two of them awarded) for the Best Foreign Language Award by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences will be screened as a means of introducing Argentine film to Mumbai.
